TELECONSULTATION
We carry out teleconsultations, contributing to the reduction of patients' trips to the clinic.Urgent patients, who cannot travel, now have the possibility to make a video call consultation with a dentist, and if necessary, have access to a medical prescription.
These consultations are designed to identify the problem and diagnose the most appropriate solution.
Teleconsultations are carried out using a mobile phone with a camera and an internet connection.

IMAGIOLOGY
We are one of the few clinics in Portugal to have the most advanced 3D CBCT (CT Bean Computer Tomography) technology. This technology allows clinicians to acquire three-dimensional images of anatomical structures, making diagnostics more accurate and reliable. Essential exams for Implantology, Surgery, Orthodontics, Endodontics, TMJ study, etc. This technology is available to all patients, including those at other clinics.
CBCT 3D TAC technology has the following advantages over traditional TAC:
- Less radiation than a traditional TAC;
- Examinations are performed with the patient standing or sitting (not lying down);
- Suitable for patients with limited mobility;
- The CD exam is delivered to the patient on the same day (without report).

DENTAL VENEERS
Dental Veneers are ceramic blades that are placed over each tooth, giving the patient a perfect smile. These “caps” are extremely thin and allow you to solve problems of color, shape and size of natural teeth.
They have numerous advantages, notably their durability, but also the amount of tooth wear that is very little or none.

TEETH IN A DAY
It is common to find people who in their lifetime have lost all their teeth or have their teeth in very poor condition, with poor prognosis, but want to have a fixed and aesthetic dentition again.Today, dentistry and technology have evolved so that we can return the smile to the patient in just one day.
With the placement of immediate implants, it is possible to recover the aesthetics and chewing ability as well as the self-esteem of the patient.
In our clinics we have 3D CAT scan that allows you to assess bone conditions, locate important anatomical structures (maxillary sinus, inferior dental nerve, etc.) and simulate implant placement prior to surgery.

MICROSCOPE ENDODONTICS
Endodontics is the specialty of dentistry responsible for the treatment commonly known as devitalization. It is when caries affect the nerve of the tooth, allowing through its removal to eliminate pain and maintain the tooth.Using an electron microscope allows a higher percentage of success as it facilitates viewing of channels not visible to the naked eye; the removal of broken files and / or the elimination of calcifications, etc. It also allows successful treatment of some teeth where it is not possible with the traditional technique.
It is a painless treatment that can be done in one visit and with a high success rate.
In our clinics we have 2 electron microscopes.

ORTHODONTICS
It is a specialty in dentistry that detects, prevents and corrects the set of anomalies of the chewing apparatus that prevent correct dental occlusion (perfect fit of the teeth of the upper jaw with the lower).Dental malocclusion (badly positioned teeth) leads to the emergence of tooth decay and gum disease due to greater difficulty in cleaning teeth. It may also lead to increased stress on the chewing muscles and lead to headaches, TMJ dysfunction and neck pain.
Early diagnosis influences the duration and success of treatment. A first assessment between 5 and 6 years old is recommended.
Orthodontic treatment makes the mouth healthier, provides a more pleasing appearance and life-long teeth.
In our clinics we use ERTTY systems, diagnosed with 3D CBCT cranial CT scan and innovative treatments such as skeletal anchorage (with mini plaques). This technique allows excellent treatments, even in complex cases.

CONSCIOUS SEDATION
Conscious sedation with nitrogen protoxide is a technique that reduces the fear and anxiety that the consultation causes. Through the inhalation of a mixture of nitrogen protoxide and oxygen, a controlled state of decreased consciousness is induced..It is a non-invasive and safe technique, with a rapid onset of medical action. It can be used in all age groups: in children, (as long as they accept the nasal mask) and in adults..
The patient remains conscious and cooperative during the consultation, being able to respond to physical and verbal stimuli, facilitating the course of treatment in safe conditions..
The effect is easily and quickly reversible, which allows you to resume daily activities after the dental procedure, with the gas being completely eliminated from the body through the lungs..
Conscious sedation does not replace the need to use anesthesia. However, it leaves the patient more relaxed and since it provides some degree of analgesia at the level of soft tissues, the perception of pain is reduced..
This technique cannot be performed when the nose is blocked, as the technique is performed by inhalation..
It is not a potent gas, so some degree of cooperation is needed. It may not be suitable in patients with severe anxiety..

IMPLANTOLOGY
Dental Implants are the most modern, safe and reliable technique for replacing natural teeth.A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically positioned in the bone. It is well tolerated by the body and performs the function of the natural root of the tooth.
This treatment presupposes two phases, surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation. In the first, the Dentist places the Implant, which corresponds to the "root of the new tooth". In the second, after healing, the Dentist puts the crown over the implant.
In our clinics we have 3D CAT scan that allows you to assess bone conditions, locate important anatomical structures (maxillary sinus, inferior dental nerve, etc.) and simulate implant placement prior to surgery.

INVISALIGN
It is a technique that uses several transparent and completely removable aligners.Made according to the case of each patient, created from a virtual treatment to move the teeth to the desired position.
Each aligner is slightly different from the previous one, so that the teeth move gradually to the final position designed by the orthodontist dentist.

ORAL PATHOLOGY
Oral Pathology is the area of Dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and lesions that affect the hard tissues of the oral cavity, oral mucosa and salivary glands locally. It also deals with the oral manifestations of several systemic diseases.

PERIODONTOLOGY
The area of dentistry which aims to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases affecting the periodontium (peri = around; odonto = tooth) comprising the gum, periodontal ligament, root cement and alveolar bone. .periodontalPeriodontal disease (periodontitis) is an infectious disease caused by microorganisms that colonize the dental and gingival surfaces. Periodontal disease has been shown to increase the prevalence and severity of diabetes, myocardial infarction, and even premature births.
Periodic dental hygiene, with a time interval of up to six months, adjusted to each case and under the guidance of the Dentist, are essential in preventing oral health and well-being, as well as for early diagnosis of the disease.
As a chronic disease, periodontitis has no cure, but it must be prevented and controlled to avoid acute illness through quarterly visits to the dentist.

PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
Pediatric Dentistry is the specialty of Dentistry that aims to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases related to the oral health of children. The first visit to the dentist should be before the birth of the first baby teeth to teach parents and children to have good oral hygiene habits.
At Dr. Vanda Gandum Dental Clinic we believe that it all starts with prevention and that children with good oral health will be happier adults!

FUNCTIONAL ORTHOPEDICS OF JAWS
Functional orthopedics of the jaws is the area of dental medicine that prevents and treats jaw problems. This specialty redirects children's correct craniofacial growth and development by balancing the temporomandibular muscles and joints, promoting the aesthetics of the face involved in building the child's self-esteem.

TEETH WHITENING
Our smile is our business card and our eating habits have a huge impact on the color of our natural teeth that are darkening or turning yellow throughout our lives.Tooth whitening allows you to change the color of your teeth safely and comfortably.
Improving the smile increases self-esteem and confidence.

ORAL SURGERY
The area of dentistry that performs minor surgeries within the oral cavity. The most common are the extraction of included wisdom teeth (teeth that are inside the bone), apicectomies, cyst removal, fibromas removal, pre-prosthetic surgery (bone and gum regularization before prosthesis), among others.

FIXED PROSTHODONTICS
Fixed Prosthodontics is the area of dentistry that aims to rehabilitate very damaged teeth. This treatment can be performed through single crowns or bridges that are screwed to the implants or cemented. over the root of the tooth that have extensive destruction or cosmetic problems.

REMOVABLE PROSTHESIS
The Removable Prosthesis is the area of dentistry that aims to rehabilitate missing teeth through the use of a "removable appliance".The absence of dental parts causes problems in chewing function, occlusion and aesthetics. It generates discomfort and reduces patients' self esteem and confidence.

PREVENTIVE DENTAL MEDICINE
It is the area of dentistry that aims to prevent diseases of the oral cavity.Proper oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist at least every 6 months will prevent the appearance of new caries lesions, but also control previously treated teeth.
These visits promote oral health and early diagnosis of any pathologies.

ENDODONTIC SURGERY (APICECTOMY)
It’s possible that a nonsurgical root canal procedure won’t be enough to save your tooth and that your endodontist will recommend surgery. Endodontic surgery can be used to locate small fractures or hidden canals previously undetected on X-rays during the initial treatment. Surgery may also be needed treat roots where broken files ou crown don't allow by the traditional way. There’s no need to worry about surgery if your endodontist prescribes this additional measure. Advanced technologies like digital imaging and operating microscopes allow these procedures to be performed quickly, comfortably and successfully. The apicectomy, or root-end resection, may be needed when inflammation or infection persists in the bony area around the end of your tooth after a root canal procedure. This surgery is done with local anesthesia. We remove any inflamed or infected tissue an the very end of the root. In the next few months, the bone will heal around the end of the root. Most patients return to their normal activities the next day. Post-surgical discomfort is generally mild.
